New
Home fragrance collection.

We are excited to announce the arrival next week of the gorgeous Peppermint Grove candles and fragrances.

Handmade in the exquisite Southern highlands of New South Wales, Australia.
This stunning range is inspired by the opulence of grand old estates, stunning private gardens & heirloom antiques. Peppermint Grove brings luxury and timeless sophistication to modern day contemporary living.

The range captures the charm of Australian living. Each fragrance has been carefully created to encapsulate a unique part of its countries landscape.

The luxurious collection of candles, diffusers and hand and body products are hand poured in a highly polished custom designed vessel that is unique to the Peppermint Grove brand. They strive to offer only the highest quality products, sourced in a sustainable and environmentally friendly manner to produce a collection of sophistication and timeless fragrances.

The candles are made from natural soy wax and have lead free cotton wicks for a longer and cleaner burn. Each diffuser is hand poured in a custom designed, highly polished glass that can be re used for a multitude of purposes around the home. Each candle comes with  a custom designed  silver lid that also acts as a protective coaster for the candle to sit on.  When lit, the candle flame shines through the bevels in the glass and reflects off the silver lid, producing a beautiful light around the room.

All bath and body products have been enriched with nourishing almond, argan, roshehip and jojoba oils which will leave skin delightfully clean, nourished and wonderfully fragrant. The hand creams contain spf 15+ for added sun protection and anti aging benefits. The pump bottles are a custom designed hard plastic that looks and feels like glass, but is far safer for  use in bathrooms and kitchens. We will also be selling the lovely gift bags, which contain a hand cream in a tube, the beautifully fragranced beauty bar, a candle and a exfoliating loofah. All presented in a  gorgeous zipped bag, useful for travel, or for your makeup, once finished with.

Peppercorn House are proud to be the new stockists of Peppermint Grove in your area. Come along to see the wonderful collection, soon to be on display and for sale in our shop next week!!

Hand painted kitchens

To paint or not to paint?

Hand painted kitchens have become extremely popular in the interiors world as they create something different and increase light as well as introducing a little touch of modern!

The price tag that comes with these bespoke painted kitchens can also mean a re mortgage to get the look you have been longing for.

I have been hand painting kitchens at Peppercorn House now for over 4 years and the transformation is breathtaking, and at a fraction of the cost, easier on your bank balance.

Its hard work and a long process.  Getting the preparation right and  choosing the right colour to enhance your space, is so important. We do a consultation on site with the customer to determine what they are wanting to achieve.

The majority of work is done in our workshop, but there is a certain amount that will need to be done on site.

So if you are fed up with the look of your kitchen, want a change but don't want to spend a small fortune then maybe this is something to seriously think about.

Here are a couple of transformations from Peppercorn House to give you an idea of how different a room can look with the right colour choice and expertise.

This was a recent kitchen I hand painted in Autentico antique white in the eggshell finish. It is a beautiful farm house kitchen which now reflects much more light and does not look so dated. Everything else stayed the same, just painted the units. Love it!!

The kitchen below was in a Georgian property and when the owners moved in they felt the black kitchen was too much. We went for a light soft green colour, by Autentico in surrey hills. Even though they had a lot of light from the large windows, the dark colour made it too dull. Choosing a lighter colour created more light and enhanced the space.

You can go as far as just painting units, or you can change the handles, workshops and wall/tile colours, but it definitely pays to update and have your kitchen hand painted by an expert, saving you a huge amount of money in the process!

Get in touch and we can give you a quote to update the look of your kitchen!

Mistress of reinvention

Mistress of reinvention!

So after a long time, I find myself here in disbelief that it has been so long since my last blog.

So much has happened here at Peppercorn House and the business has gone from strength to strength.
Since December  2010 we have now expanded into more fabrics and wallpapers. This lead to me offering a bespoke service for curtains and blinds. From this I have branched out into Interior Design, spreading my wings and loving every minute of it.

I have hit the ground running this year with various articles about my business.
Any publicity is very welcome. As a small business trying to grow its nice to get that recognition I have been yearning for.

A lovely glossy magazine, dedicated to everything local to my area, Living magazine, wrote a fantastic piece about my business, Peppercorn house. I've been absolutely thrilled with the write up and the response I have had!!

I hope you enjoy the read as much as I did!!! Thank you Living magazine!!

The Shop!

I cant believe I am actually sitting down and finally writing about the shop. I officially opened on the 1st December 2011 and its now April 2012.......How time flies!
The opening was a huge success with a great crowd of people with wine and canopes flowing all night. The atmosphere was great and there was a real buzz in the air.

Peppercorn House is now based within 'The Grange' at Hurworth just outside of Darlington. The shop is on the first floor within the chapel room , which really compliments the range of furniture and accessories I sell.
It's a stunning room, old, full of character and spacious too. I have my workshop next door so its easy to do the commission work.

We offer a full upholstery service as well as blinds, curtains and other soft furnishings. We have a bespoke service , so if you have an idea for a piece of furniture in mind, then we can make it happen for you. We also source those hard to find pieces to make life that bit easier for you.
Our commission work is building up steadily. At the workshop we are busy revamping clients furniture and turning their pieces into something they can love again.
Turning up to work every morning is a joy. I am so passionate about Peppercorn House and I am thrilled at how well it is going.
So if you are ever passing near Hurworth, pop in for a cup of coffee, you will always be made welcome, have a browse and enjoy the atmosphere, or check us out on line to see what we offer!

I promise to make more of an effort to blog more often so wait to hear about the next chapter.....

Homes & Garden exhibition

Well its been over 2 weeks now since I did my first exhibition for Peppercorn House. I just seem to be so busy that there are not enough hours in the day to get everything done, and before I know it time has flown by.

But my first exhibition was a great success! Although I have to say the weather was horrible. I had a large plot outside in a beautiful walled garden in the grounds of Wynyard Hall. I bought a marquee/gazebo and hoped the weather would be fair.....how wrong could I be.
My mum came to help out for the weekend and we spent the whole of Saturday holding onto a pole each to try and stop the marquee from taking off!!We had to roll up the sides of the marquee to let the wind blow through, and my lovely sign I had made only stayed up for a short while before I had to roll it back up into its case as the wind was just too strong.

Despite the wind, I had a fantastic day and the my display looked great. I tried to display as much as I could as not having a shop and only being web based its nice to make the most of it and let people see as much of my pieces as possible.
I tried to set it up as you would in your own home, so at one end I had a bedroom, in the middle I had a dining area and at the other end I had a lounge area.

The feedback I had from the public was amazing so I'm so happy. Everybody loved what I was doing!
I had to move inside come Sunday as the wind was even stronger and the rain started too. Not the best combination for a gazebo ouside..... My space was smaller inside but still looked lovely so it was all worth it.

I had so much of a good time that I have now booked to do 2 more exhibitions in November, ready for Christmas. This time these will be inside so the weather can do what it wants!!
I'm on a roll.....
